Hello Statebound TMs!

Here is what you’ve been waiting for!! And- I appreciate your patience. You can download the schedule for Tournament Day RIGHT HERE. We are also posting it on our website. Also attached is an aerial view of the parking lots as well as a letter from our tournament director about parking.

Some reminders:

Registration for teams will be in front of the main office (main Commons Area).

Props/scenery, etc may be brought into the building ONE HOUR prior to your team’s scheduled time. We have about 170 teams this year and the hallways will get crowded. We do have Prop Storage rooms for each challenge. In order to keep these rooms and hallways clear, with as little clutter as possible, we ask that you abide by this to allow for easy movement.

PLEASE – DO NOT SAVE TABLES IN THE CAFETERIA. Again – we have 170 teams and it would be nice if everyone shared and got up from the table once you are done eating.

We will have an Opening Ceremony at 8 am in the Main Gym. Line up by school starts at 7:45. Please bring a sign that represents your school. If you have an early CC or IC time, it is quite understandable that you may not make it to Opening, but we do encourage as many teams as possible to attend. Opening Ceremony should take about 20 minutes.

We WILL have a Sock Hop in the Main Gym starting at 4:30. Closing Ceremony will begin as close to 5:15 as possible.

We WILL have Souvenirs for SALE! We will also have our famous SILENT AUCTION – where we will have DI pins and t-shirts from around the country and WORLD – available for purchase!!

We WILL have KEVA PLANKS for those who want to build for a while!

We will also have the STATE POLICE doing demonstrations and allowing kids to get a chance to talk to them and see the inside of their vehicles.

We WILL have Think Fun Games to play and for sale!

We will also have other fun activities and presentations! Check them out!!

Want to earn a prize?? Each registration packet will contain Passports for each team member. See at least one presentation of each challenge – get your passport stamped – and win a surprise!!

We WILL have a QUIET ROOM for those adults who just need to get away from it all for a little while!

We WILL have signs for DROP ZONES to drop off props/scenery for each challenge. Please look for them as you enter enter the parking lot.

REMIND ALL YOUR PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS THAT NO INTERFERENCE IS ALLOWED OF ANY KIND. ONLY TEAM MEMBERS MAY FIX PROPS, SCENERY, COSTUMES, MAKEUP, ETC. IF SOMETHING IS FALLING APART – ONLY TEAM MEMBERS MAY PUT IT BACK TOGETHER. WE WANT ALL TEAMS TO BE PROUD OF THEIR HARD WORK!

Feel free to email or call with any questions. I can be reached on my cell at 540-270-7249. I teach graduate courses at the University of Mary Washington and am in class on Tues and Wed from 6 – 8:40. If you need to reach me on those days, please call either before or after my class

Please Friend us on Facebook-Virginia Destination Imagination – I will be posting announcements on our Facebook page and on our website.

One more thing- keep in mind that each team needs to think about the potential of advancing to Global Finals. Start fund raising NOW!! Deposits of $500 will be due on April 19 with the remainder due May 2.

See you all April 5!!!!
